“The Living Book”

“The book had a watery aspect; it seemed to flow through her and within itself. Its knowledge came out and entered her soul, but its material constantly changed, preserving its underlying Truth, while altering the wrapping within which that Truth was being communicated. She would understand the Sanskrit characters that spelled out the mahavakya, or great teaching, “That Thou Art,” though she had never seen Sanskrit before in her life. She would read the Arabic characters spelling out Rumi’s advice to “Let go of your mind, and then be mindful,” and instantaneously fathom his wisdom. Claire found that the book provided the words that perfectly corresponded to what she had learned in her natural progress through life. Lessons that she had intuited, or that had come to her from experiences, got capsulized by the pithy statements on the book page.” (from “Palace of Perfect Wisdom”)
