“An Oasis”

“After some time, Sonca felt inspired to speak. “We find ourselves in this glorious spot, surrounded by the delightful charms of this mountain lake set like an emerald gem amongst the textured gold of the mountains. But we don’t forget the tragic condition of the world at large. The stories all of you have shared remind us of the fear, jealousy, cruelty, and violence that permeate our society. We are aware of the mind-boggling greed of those who have succeeded in hoarding the wealth that, more evenly spread, would lift up so many from dire poverty and deprivation. We all know of the corporate rapaciousness that has traded the health of the earth for foul-gotten money. It is not a secret to us that groups of the most vulnerable have been maliciously made to suffer in exchange for the aggrandizement of power by the oligarchy. The children are slaughtered to fatten the profits of the makers of weapons. The sick are denied needful medicines so that stockholders’ gains may swell disgustingly. Masses of people are slaughtered to satisfy the ravenous hunger of the bomb makers. “The soil is poisoned with chemicals, the air fouled with impurities, and the animals killed by the shrinkage of their livable domains. The rain drops particles of plastic on the earth. Lack of oxygen in the oceans suffocates the fish. And, despite all this inconceivable tragedy, the leaders of the world’s governments do nothing.” Now it was Stilla’s turn to feel words being given to her. “And despite the efforts of many advanced souls, this downward spiral of life on earth, this devolution of humanity, shows no signs of stopping. But higher souls require human bodies to continue their progress toward Enlightenment, the goal of all existence: life lived in Perfect Peace, Love, Bliss, and Wisdom. So, a plan has been devised to provide these seekers with a world within the world, an oasis within the desert, a place where it is not merely safe to live, but positively conducive to righteous life.”” (from “Palace of Perfect Wisdom”)

Richard Maddox

Richard Dietrich Maddox's writing focuses on the search for permanent happiness, the goal of finding paradise on earth, the attainment of human Enlightenment. His work, though fiction, attempts to convey the profound spiritual Truth passed on to humanity by Enlightened Masters. Maddox approaches spiritual wisdom from a Western level of experience, presenting characters to whom readers can easily relate, offering situations in which readers might well have found themselves. His work offers, in a style which those living in the West will find understandable, the possibility of blissful existence.
