“Religion Versus Spirituality”
“Between the religions practiced around the world, there has often been antagonism, hatred, and even outright warfare. One religion believes that it has a monopoly on the truth and denigrates another as fallacious and deserving of contempt. Another religion feels that its truth should be forced on people who do not believe it. Religions fight over temples and holy ground, over interpretations of texts and the correct practices of rituals. What all this strife demonstrates is that religion too often becomes political and egoic, forgetting, in the process, the spiritual roots that originally gave it strength. But what was happening in the Palace of Perfect Wisdom was the living, in daily practice, of the genuine spirituality, the drinking of the pure waters of divine inspiration from which all religious traditions originated. In spiritual affairs, Master recognizes Master; luminary, luminary; adept, adept; devotee, devotee. No matter what path each has taken to the top of the mountain, they all stand at its summit, perfectly happy and content.” (from “Palace of Perfect Wisdom”)
