“Rishikesh”

“Rishikesh is often referred to as the “Abode of Gods.” Sri Shankara’s spiritual influence, though first brought here in the distant 8th century, had permeated the very stones of the place. It was here that Maharishi Mahesh Yogi had instructed the Beatles in the technique of Transcendental Meditation. It was here that holy men and women and Hindu devotees had come on pilgrimage for centuries past. Both Swami Rama Tirtha and Sivananda Saraswati had lived, meditated, and taught here. And history has lost track of the rishis and other Enlightened Beings who had graced the banks of the Ganges in this place where the city of Rishikesh later formed.” (from “The Whisper of a Saint”)

Richard Maddox

Richard Dietrich Maddox's writing focuses on the search for permanent happiness, the goal of finding paradise on earth, the attainment of human Enlightenment. His work, though fiction, attempts to convey the profound spiritual Truth passed on to humanity by Enlightened Masters. Maddox approaches spiritual wisdom from a Western level of experience, presenting characters to whom readers can easily relate, offering situations in which readers might well have found themselves. His work offers, in a style which those living in the West will find understandable, the possibility of blissful existence.
