“Visions”
“She saw beings who astonished her in their beauty and grace: angels, some golden and some the color of the sky; celestial musicians, with skins like verdigrised copper; nymphs dripping with celestial waters; spirits of the winds and storms, spinning in circles as if in preparation to deliver their power. The dazzle of the light now gave way to a skyscape as softly toned as that of Boucher’s painting “The Forge of Vulcan.” Ivory cloud pillows floated on a vast carpet of palest turquoise. Shreds of incarnadine cumulus nearly camouflaged the graceful spirit figures recumbent upon them. Rosie was surprised to see an immense white cow, a white-winged horse, and a four-tusked white elephant, all traveling effortlessly through the air. On the back of this elephant rode a radiant, golden being, who bore in one hand a sparking thunderbolt and in the other an archer’s weapon in the shape of a rainbow.”
