“The Eagle”

Excerpt from “Osi and Isi: A Tale of Twin Flames”: “As they came to a small opening in the woods, a dark shadow was cast on the ground. Everyone looked up. The great wings of a bald eagle, which spread at least eight feet wide, were visible above them. The deeply fringed black feathers were inset by white ones. The ends of the wings showed feathers widely spaced. The bird circled slowly over its rapt watchers, before settling on a high branch. What a majestic, white-feathered head this fine eagle possessed! Its beak was light orange and its eyes, pale green. The bird looked over the colonists before settling its attention on Aiyana. She now stepped forward, offering herself in communion with the magnificent eagle. In Native American culture, the bald eagle is sacred and greatly revered, for it represents freedom, truth, majesty, wisdom, strength, and courage. It is believed to have a direct connection to God. Native Americans believe that the Creator made, at the birth of the world, all the birds of the sky. Of these birds, the Creator chose the eagle to be the leader, the king of the sky. The great bird now left its perch and flew three circles over the heads of the colonists before heading up higher into the mountains. Aiyana explained to her friends the significance of the eagle to her tribal people. “This was an auspicious event for all of us. We can interpret this visit as a message from the Creator.”
