“Island Paradise”

Excerpt from “Osi ands Isi: A Tale of Twin Flames”: “Having traveled far in her kayak, Isi paused to marvel at the scenery surrounding her. The sun was setting in a gorgeous tableau of signal red, venetian pink, and mandarin orange swaths; a cloud, shaped like a giant bird, stood poised to take off from the horizon. A straight band of banana yellow now stretched across the sea. As she looked landward, a series of jigsaw-puzzle-shaped islets seemed to have broken apart from what was formerly a unitary breadth of land. Now the ocean was a rich sapphire blue in the fading light. The moon had risen, and its light created pools of glowing glass as they reached the water. The girl felt like a bodiless witness to the soul-clutching beauty of what she observed. It was as if she had sneaked behind an excluding curtain to view a secret ceremony performed by the gods for their own delectation. Silence filled the space. Colors transformed one into the other with effortless grace. The lighting in this vast amphitheater of nature was gradually dimmed by invisible hands. Here was a ballet on a grand scale. The dancers, wisps of cloud, rippling wavelets, sighing palm fronds, and bands of pastel light, moved with sublime grace, perfectly in time with the music of the spheres.”
